Bangkok Thailand 2024 Photos

The tropical vegetation is so lush and green everywhere you go, even in the city.

Another interesting modern building. This one looks way too narrow!

A robotic waiter at a restaurant. It followed the human waiters around so they didn’t have to carry so much.

What an adorable little napkin dispenser!

The pool at my hotel (which I tragically never got around to using). I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive hotels are in Bangkok. A fancy hotel offering 4-star quality amenities that would cost around $300 - $500 a night in a large US or European city can be found in Bangkok for around $40/night. More economical no-frill budget options abound too, at $15 - $20/night.

There’s so many great outdoor patio dining spots around the city with great ambiance, especially in the evenings.

Durians are a very smelly/stinky fruit. My dad and I tried some fried ‘durian balls’ in Jakarta - I would not recommend. There’s signs in the hotels and public transit banning durians and durian-eating.

Some of the English translations seen on various signs around the city are hilarious. This one amused me. I think non-English speaking countries do the same with English that we do with Asian languages; festoon them as ‘exotic’ decoration without really understanding the meaning. Some of the English phrases I saw on clothing and signs were completely nonsensical, and I love it. It’s thoroughly entertaining reading all the funny English and terrible translations.
