I have returned from my trip into town and I am so happy to report that I was able to successfully cancel the MoneyGram transfer, set up a new transfer through Western Union, and then complete the transfer. It all went very smoothly. I did not have to give a reason to the Western Union agent that collected my cash for the transfer either, and as I mentioned before, I changed the amount. Hopefully the extra $100 helps cover any additional expenses you might incur. For example, if the travel agency increases the amount due to late payment, this should hopefully help cover this additional expense.
I have attached both the confirmation I received online after setting up the transfer, as well as the receipt I was given by the Western Union agent after giving her the $800 cash. The receipt shows the confirmation number, which is:
